VAGUE Runway at MBFW Azerbaijan 2025
This year at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Azerbaijan, VAGUE unveiled a conceptual runway show exploring the tension between body and clothing — between exposure and concealment, transparency and density, heaviness and lightness.
The collection featured 25 distinct looks, each reflecting a stage in the journey from restriction to liberation. The show opened with a model almost entirely submerged in fabric, their form hidden beneath heavy layers. As the runway progressed, each subsequent model shed a layer — both literally and metaphorically — until the final look revealed only the bare essentials.
This evolving visual narrative was a meditation on transformation: a process of self-shedding, both physical and emotional, in pursuit of essence, vulnerability, and freedom.
To deepen the sensory experience, we searched for a sound artist who could translate this concept into music. We envisioned a sonic arc that would mirror the clothing’s evolution — starting with a dense, immersive soundscape and gradually unfolding into something lighter, translucent, and open.
The result was a collaboration with electronic artist and composer MIMIKO, alongside synth operator William Tavadze. Together, they created an exclusive techno track for the show — a fusion of sound and movement, darkness and light, pressure and release.
This soundtrack wasn’t just background music — it was an integral part of the show’s storytelling. Heavy tones and layered rhythms opened the show in a mysterious, almost ceremonial atmosphere. As the models stripped away garments, the music followed — dissolving into airy textures, soft wind-like whispers, and ultimately, silence.
The VAGUE show at MBFW Azerbaijan 2025 wasn’t just fashion — it was a full-body experience, a moment of collective breath, and a visual manifesto of becoming.
