Non-gender. Non-trend. Non-issue.
VAGUE was founded in 2016 by designer couple Anuk Yosebashvili and Yaron Shmerkin. The brand offers a selection of non-gender black clothing and accessories with unique shapes and functional details.
VAGUE has set on a mission to design clothes that are practical, functional, comfortable, wearable, and that inspire movement without seeking to imitate any trend or to fit a specific gender. Each piece is made with precise details and high-end natural fabrics in our private Atelier. And yeah, it’s all black.
“Out of the place of obscurity, the absence of a clear statement, I found the definition in the lack of definition. The term "Vague" began to grow beyond the filling of the place it had acquired, and became a theme: a work that seeks to blur, obscure and erase clear lines of gender and wearable characterization.” – Anuk Yosebashvili, founder and designer of VAGUE.
Express yourself, not society.
At VAGUE nothing defines us. Not gender, not color, not trends. Fashion is a constraint - a dictated season, a dictated gender, a dictated color. Everything is actually a cyclical trend. Non-gender is explicitly a part of the desire to deconstruct the motive of time and chronology in fashion, into an a-seasonality, a concept of fashion abolishing even itself.
The word “fashionable” is losing its strength. What we choose to wear is becoming much more subjective and individual.
F*ck gender expectations. Be who you want to be.
Gender norms are losing their importance, and it also has a significant place in each person's perception of self. When the discourse becomes more open, and the freedom to be "YOU" disengages from old stigmas, looking inward allows us to place more emphasis on what is important in clothing - comfort, texture and shape.
"My choice of non-gender design has never stemmed from a perception that does not recognize gender. The wearer is of course important to me and the gender must be relevant and is existing. However, as far as I'm concerned, the design should not relate to the gender element." – Anuk Yosebashvili, founder and designer of VAGUE.
Best in Black
Black is elegant, powerful and mysterious color. We find it not a "colorless color", but one in which subtleties increase and take on a more critical meaning. And as Christian Dior said – you can wear black any time, any age, and any occasion.
"I absorb - like the color black - everything. Thus, what is left is what I like as a person, and whether I want to designate it to myself: in accordance with my comfort, with the garments a-gender fluidity, and with the reversing of the roles, in which the garment carries me, and not me carrying the garment." – Anuk Yosebashvili, founder and designer of VAGUE.
